Rail Trail Bike Ride
Take a ride on the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT), a converted section of unused railroad right-of-way. This section parallels the meandering Quinapoxet River and ends in the town of of Holden. Along the way is an old textile mill site and its nearby tenements. The trail's fairly level with slight rutting. The surface is hard dirt with a bit of small-pebble gravel: mountain bikes are better-suited than road bikes. Mosquitos can be a problem, so bring some protection. The trail opens with a three-mile-long flat stretch. After that, we can swing to the north and continue onto a hillier portion. We could also optionally swing south, returning to the start along the opposite side of the river. Directions from Worcester: 1. Take I-190 to EXIT 4 (Rt. 12, West Boylston). 2. At the end of the exit ramp is a T-intersection: turn LEFT onto Route 12 North. 3. Go through four more sets of lights (two miles). NOTE: At the fourth light is a junction with Route 140. 4. Cross the reservoir (landmark: Old Stone Church) and immediately bear LEFT to follow Route 140. 5. At the next intersection (one mile), you'll see the MCRT parking area across the road and slightly to the left. From points southeast: 1. Take I-290 to EXIT 23B (Rt. 140 North). 2. Follow Route 140 North about five miles to the second traffic light (junction with Route 12). 3. Continue on Route 140 North. 4. After crossing the reservoir (landmark: Old Stone Church), bear LEFT tofollow Route 140 another mile. 5. At the next intersection (one mile), you will see the parking area across the road and slightly to the left. From Leominster and points north and west: 1. Take I-190 South to EXIT 5 (Rt. 140). 2. At the end of the ramp turn LEFT onto Route 140 South. 3. Go one mile south. NOTE: DO NOT turn left when Route 140 jogs left: just go straight. 4. Immediately after Route 140 jogs left, you will see the parking area on your right. Rain date: September 19th, same time.

Children's Meditation 4-8 year olds - with Judy Allsup-Miller
Meditation for Children is a 1/2 hour class offered in two age groups, 4-8 years of age and 9-12 years. Meditation is a very special kind of sitting quietly doing nothing, in which the mind is held clear and still, alert and watchful, and free from loosing itself in thinking. Researchers who have worked with children say meditation reduces test anxiety, builds positive peer relationships, and enhances anger management skills. Parents of children who meditate say that it helps family members practice respect for one another; their children show healthy self esteem, find it easier to wind down at bedtime, and even that their children's health has improved. It is my hope that teaching meditation to children will help them to cultivate creativity and focus, and allow them to find that quiet place within themselves that is such an important tool in coping with life's stresses and changes. Classes will be held once a month on Sundays from 11:30 til noon, with the younger group meeting on the 2nd sunday and the 9-12 year olds on the 4th sunday of the month. Price: $6 for the first child, $3 for each sibling.

The Craft Quilters - Goddess Quilt
Welcome to The Craft Quilters! This is the first gathering that will spell out the design of our Goddess Inspired Quilt. Each person will have a square that they will design and create that will ultimately be sewn together to create a beautiful, unique, magickal quilt. The cost is $10 for this first meeting... that's it! We will be gathering monthly until our quilt is done. The cost will go to providing all the materials needed to finish off the quilt (the thread, batting and binding) as well as the initial square. Any and all scrap material that anyone would like to donate would be wonderful! This is not only for sewers! The squares can be painted, sewn, stitched, embroidered and in some cases, glued!! This is about the collective effort of everyone involved to show their love and inspiration of the Goddess. We will decide, as a group, the final destination of the Goddess Quilt. Do we donate it, auction it off for charity, or use it to facilitate healing & meditation sessions for those who need it most? It is my hope that this first quilt will be used in some way to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute here in Milford. All of this will be discussed at this first meeting. Get ready for some inspired fun!

Shamanic Journey with Shane Robinson
Welcome to your Shamanic Journey, a judge free zone in which we are able to open up our souls to the universe and be one with each other. We will be celebrating the beautiful light beings we are and will talk through important issues that have been keeping our spirits down, obstacles that hinder our growth, or to simply look for enlightenment. This journey will be two hours of trust, happiness, and remembering the truth of who we are, that we are a triadic being: living in our mind, body and our spirit. What to expect? Upon entrance you will be greeted as the angel you are, and will be smudged with sacred smoke. We will then be seated in our sacred circle. We ask that you bring one item for the altar so that you will be able to take home the energy with you in a tangible object. Introductions will be made and we will each have our own turn as to why we were called to this journey. Energy will be built through our minds, bodies, and spirit all at once before we go into our meditative journey state. Everyones experience will be unique. Some people's Journey may bring up a past life, others may bring you to a beautiful, serene, & divine place. While still the possibility of going to a place you never wanted to visit again is very real. But to also remember you are in a safe within the circle and no harm will come to you. This is the perfect place to let your walls down and be open to the experiences that will come to you.

In the end we shall be nourished through our seasons of work, together, as a community. Also, should the pumpkins be ready in the pumpkin patch, our littlest members of the community will have the opportunity to choose their pumpkin for their Samhain / Halloween celebrations! This is the garden's gift to them. This is a free event, however donations will be accepted to cover the expenses of putting the garden to rest for the season. Blessed Be!

Monty Python's SPAMALOT
Here is a event sure to please.... Join us in a search for the Holy Grail at a Matinee showing of SPAMALOT. This will be held at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester on Saturday October 2nd at 2:00 PM. I have negotiated a group rate for up to 30 tickets (minimum 20) in the ORCHESTRA CENTER, Ten tickets each in rows S, T, and (you guessed it) U. The discounted price including all taxes, surcharges, rust-proofing and shrubbery is only $51. The Hanover Theatre is a splendid example of early twentieth century architecture restored to it's former glory. I recently saw Neil Young here and it is a great venue. We can figure out lunch before or drinks after for those so inclined. Now for the boring details: The theatre requires one person (ME) to make the full payment by August 31st, so..... 1. You must mail me a check or money order for $51 to ARRIVE in my hands by August 26th. 2. Tickets are non-refundable but the demand for these shows are going to far outstrip the supply. 3. We have a maximum of 30, (minimum required 20) tickets available. 4. Your YES response is needed to secure our group rate by AUGUST 15th - but the earlier the better! So tarry not, send your reply, or I will taunt you a second time. Paul Carpe Carp - Seize the Fish Checks payable to Paul J. FANTASTIC SUNDAY BRUNCH!
Last year we (22 of us) enjoyed a fantastic 'huge' Brunch at The Oliver Wight Tavern in Sturbridge. It is amazing how much food they serve for this 'Sunday Brunch'. The Oliver Wight Tavern is located just outside the Visitor center entrance to Old Sturbridge Village on the left side just before you enter the winding road to Sturbridge Village. The dining room is gigantic, can sit 300 people, the decor and atmosphere is so New England! Those that went last year raved about the food, the quantity, and the price! Yep, it's only $19.95 plus tax and tip. Great Price for all you get! Just a sampling of the menu: Omelets made to order, scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon, sausage, assorted muffins & danish, buttermilk pancakes, waffles (with M&M's, chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries & fresh whipped cream), seasonal sliced fruit, carving station with Ham, Roast Turkey and Prime Rib.......on top of huge selection of desserts! You won't believe all you get for just $19.95. Please rsvp yes only if you are certain you can make it, as I need to make reservations for this event. Of course if something comes up and you can't make it, kindly change your rsvp. You Will Love This Place!

Hand Craft Your Own Elk Hide Drum!
Come experience the opportunity of a lifetime...The Robin's Nest is thrilled to welcome Victor Shulman, master drum maker! Victor has been making drums for over 3 years and was trained by Native American Cherokee Shaman, Gary Gent. Victor has offered private instruction for drum making and will now offer one, and possibly two, drum making classes at the Nest! The drums are crafted from Elk hyde and all materials, stains and instruction are included in this class. Due to space restrictions, only 4 people will allowed per class. Class will begin at 8am and run until approximately 3-4 pm. Please wear "play clothes" and bring food for lunch. Each drum is a unique piece of art. How it turns out will be the will of the drum and its maker! No two drums are exactly alike. Attached are photos of some of the drums Victor has crafted. The price for this class is $160 and must be prepaid no later than September 24, 2010 so that Victor has time to purchase the hides from Washington State. Once payment has been received, no refunds will be offered. Once this class is full, a waiting list for the second class will be offered. Once there are another 4 people on the waiting list, the second class for October 23rd will be scheduled and class members will be notified. Drums are an essential tool to any spiritual practice. Not only will you receive the benefit of this sacred tool during your spiritual practices, but having the opportunity to create your own, with the guidance of your Spirit guides in the process of it's birth, is a magickal gift indeed. Also, once your drum is completed, you may consider crafting one for a friend as a gift! Many Blessings to you! Robin Hawk
